Shakespeare’s Power Play
Summary: Power. Who has it? Who wants it? Who takes it? Join us for an evening of curated scenes and monologues exploring the theme of power from Shakespeare’s kings, soldiers, wives, and parents. If you are new to Shakespeare, never fear, our troupe has plans to break down the Bard for newcomers while sharing some of his greatest hits in a casual, theatrical performance. Appropriate for all audiences with special recognition for folks who are having their first Shakespeare experience!
IMPORTANT DATES:
Director Roundtable: January 19th & 20th, 2026 - 6:00 PM-8:00 PM
Room 246, East High School, enter through the “A” door from Marr Rd. parking lot. Rm 246 is on the left.
Agenda: script analysis, basic scene design, audition protocols, concept work, etc.
Actor Auditions: February 2nd & 3rd, 2026 - 6:00 PM
Room C110, East High School, enter through the “S” door from Marr Rd parking lot.
Actors will only need to attend one session. Readings will be provided.
Due to the abbreviated nature of this project and the short rehearsal timeline, all auditions should be in person. Video auditions are not necessary. If there is a problem with attending the scheduled audition dates, contact Julie Hult directly at 812-390-9522.

WHERE: East High School — Room C110. Park in the bus lot off Marr Road. Enter through the ‘T’ doors on the north end of the building.

Prepared monologues are welcome but not required. Audition scenes and monologues will be available at auditions (Audition Slides).
Think: funnest English class ever.
PARTICIPATION WAIVERS: Waivers will need to be filled out upon arrival at auditions. You can review our participation waiver in advance here. A waiver must be signed by each actor auditioning in person and every cast member. Minors will need waivers signed by a parent/guardian.
CASTING AND REHEARSALS: The cast list will be released on the MRTC website and social media pages before February 5. The process kicks off with a full company meeting on February 5 at 6:00 PM. Rehearsals run Feb 9–12, Feb 16–19, and Feb 23–26 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Depending on director preference for each scene, days a cast member is called to rehearsal will vary. All cast must attend every night during the final week. For a look at what scenes/shows have been selected, expand the next section below.
